Keeping it Simple
“In character, in manner, in style, in all things, the supreme excellence is simplicity.”
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow; American Poet
In recent times our Team Coaching work has involved working with teams who are in constant transition in terms of both their priorities and their membership. These teams are constantly reshaping and reforming everything from the allocation of roles and contributions to their psychological contracts and relationships. On top of this, many leadership teams are often geographically dispersed across different time zones.
This can lead to feelings of disconnect, low trust and silo working. Members feel isolated and can have lower levels of resilience.
For us in TOWARD, with these challenging times, a leader who works to create trust and purpose is invaluable. We recently witnessed a senior leader, new to their team, engage with people in a spirit of openness, curiosity and authenticity. They skilfully balanced providing a sense of direction with building ownership and commitment with their talented team. The team left the session feeling energised, connected and purposeful.
The beauty and power of simplicity of style in complex times was apparent.
